We're looking for a senior backend engineer to take ownership of the platform's infrastructure: our API layer, payment integrations, and database design. As a solo-founder company, this is a senior, self-directed role with real technical authority. You'll work directly with our founder to make architecture decisions and set the foundations the platform will scale on.
Responsibilities
- Design and own robust, well-tested APIs using Node.js and TypeScript
- Own our Stripe integration and other payment and third-party service connections
- Design and maintain the database schema and migrations
- Make and document infrastructure and architecture decisions with our founder
- Monitor, secure, and improve system performance and reliability
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with Node.js and TypeScript, including system design
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database design (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Experience building and securing REST APIs handling real payments or sensitive data
- Comfortable owning infrastructure decisions with minimal oversight
Nice to have
- Experience with Supabase or a similar BaaS
- AWS or other cloud infrastructure experience
- Experience with event-driven architecture
- Experience in an early-stage startup or as a founding engineer
